With the rise of the global environmental movement, while jumping the bright future of jute in the entire world market, the fortunes of the jute farmers of our country are not cutting down. The golden fiber of this country is now running in the golden season of jute, but the farmers are not in the face of the golden smile. The reason maybe we all are well-informed.
2. Now let's see, the real condition of the jute cultivation of this country. I am trying to convince this chapter with a true precedent-
Hassu Mia (pseudonym), a poor peasant. In a remote village of green and green Bengal, the house of five people, the three children and the husband and wife of these five people. In his own words, five hundred home land and 5th century (a bigha of land) arable land found in the paternal land, this is his wealth. Hassu Mia is another great resource his eldest son, he is a university student. This year Hashu Mia cultivates jute in his own land. Although he wanted to cultivate paddy, but the surrounding landowners were forced to follow their footsteps because they were not ready to cultivate paddy.
At the end of the month of Chaitra, meaning that there was not enough rain at the beginning of sowing of jute seeds, Hassu Mia was contracted with an irrigation machine owner for a jute twice to irrigate his land in exchange for jute. Then rinse the land with 1500 rupees and buy fertilizer and jute seeds from the market and sow it. After that, he picked jute (leaving vulnerable plants to remove weak plants), extracting, cutting, awakening, spreading the veil from the curtain, helping the son and wife with the help of the rest. But if Jute is brought to the market for sale, he will have his hands on the market. The golden smile of the face disappears.
Freshly, Hathu Mia got jute in 52-acre land of Tana only more than 10 times. And the market price was 1600 rupees per maund, which was too small for its production and labor cost. Moreover, in the current market, the price of jute is being forced by the farmers to sell their golden crops. For example, the price of 'A' grade jute is 15-17 sq.ft, 'B' grade is Rs. 12-15 Taka and 'C' grade is only 8-122 Taka. However, because of Hasehu Mia's own land, he had got some money in hand despite hard work. But in our country, the peasants who cross the land of others, their condition is even worse!
3. Now let's see, past, present and future of jute in this country. Jute market was expanded in the world in the sixties and sixties of the last century. The fame and fame of the golden fiber were scattered throughout the world. As a result, the world's largest jute mill Adamjee Jute Mill was established in Narayanganj in 1951. But in the 1970s, the golden age of Adamjee jute mills ended when plastic and polythene substitutes were introduced. Gradually, the jute industry continues to collapse.
Recently, the environment has peeped into the world market for the awareness of golden fiber again. In the meantime, the government of Bangladesh has passed the 'Use of Jute Packaging Act, 2010' to bring back the glory of jute. Ministry of Textile and Jute, Government of the present, preserve 17 items including rice, rice, wheat, maize, fertilizer, sugar, onion, garlic, ginger, pulses, potatoes, flour, flour, chilli, turmeric, coriander and tussa-khud-pudha. The use of jute packing has been made compulsory for supply and distribution. If anybody disobeys this law, it will be punished with punishments of both the punishments and imprisonment. Besides, the Prime Minister herself declared jute goods as 'processed agricultural products'.
According to the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) data, foreign direct earnings from jute and jute goods exported in the last fiscal year 2016-17, 9 billion dollars in the previous fiscal year, 2015-2016 fiscal year. One year increase is about 5 percent. Presently, the contribution of the jute sector to the total export earnings is about 3 percent, which is evolving. Besides, global climate change and environmental protection movements are also going strong. It is also recommended to reduce the use of plastic and polythene products and to ease the use of wastewater jute products. As a result, in the near future, jute that is losing its lost throne again, it is easy to guess.
Therefore, in this crisis of jute, the government will have to stand beside jute farmers and traders. If needed, various farmers' organizations and Bangladesh Jute Mills Association (BJMA) - will have extensive discussions with the delegation and the long-term future plans of the jute industry have to be taken. Jute cultivation will be encouraged in its cultivation in modern methods, with more advanced innovation of jute. Above all, the farmers will have to get the fair prices of jute. If only the peasants get fair prices of their products, then they will not step out of production of that product.
In light of the above discussion, the present government is determined to return the golden days of jute. But as long as it is not possible to ensure the proper application of these laws and to ensure proper payment of this golden jute crop of sweat and hard work like poor gold jewelery, the fine of the golden fiber is expected.
