The president wants the intervention of OIC members to protect Rohingya
President of the OIC members wanted the intervention of Myanmar's ethnic minority Rohingya Muslims to ensure security. Abdul Hamid said that due to repeated torture of Rohingyas in their country, their existence is threatening as well and in the same way, Bangladesh faces a severe crisis of burden of heavy helpless Rohingya.
He said this while giving a speech at the Council of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the first 'Science and Technology Conference' on Sunday in the capital of Kazakhstan. The President said, Bangladesh has given shelter to Rohingya considering humanitarian grounds.
He also said that I draw your kind attention to ensuring the security of the helpless Rohingya Muslim population, deprived of all kinds of rights including citizenship of their own country. These Rohingyas are the victims of cruelty and displacement.
The President said the Rohingya crisis created 'direct adverse effects' on Bangladesh. In the Rakhine state, they are being brutally evicted from the housework. As a result, a large number of Rohingya refugees are forced to take refuge in neighboring countries.
President Abdul Hamid laid emphasis on combined efforts to protect the rights of these minority Muslim population of Myanmar. Heads of state and government of OIC member countries participated in this science and technology conference in Kazakhstan's capital. The President of Bangladesh emphasized the collective effort of science and technology to lead the Muslim world to the world of technology users.
