Its central leader Shamsul Arefin Khaled, in a written statement to BPICC, said that the tax exemption facility of Poultry sector has been withdrawn from the last fiscal 2015-16. As a result, the 'highly sensitive' industry suddenly gets a major setback, and the cost of production increases.
"You have noticed - just a few moments ago, chickens, eggs, meat, feeds, etc were imported by the cost of valuable foreign currency. They are now being produced in the country. But the majority of essential raw materials used in poultry feed such as maize, soybean mills, vegetable protein etc. are still dependent on import.
"If the production cost of poultry feed increases, overall the cost of production of eggs, chicken poultry and broiler chickens is increased. Thus, the cost of production of eggs and poultry is reduced between the middle and lower income people, and the government's Nutrition Safety and Vision 2021 targets, even achieving the target of SDG, will increase the chances of delay or delay - which is never desirable.
