Hamid called on all to come forward to stand against the religious
extremists and stand beside the poor and helpless people. The President said religious extremism has now become a threat to world peace. He said, humanity is the eternal message of religion. No religion supports terrorism, militancy, extremism Extremism creates intolerance, breaks social disorder.
The President called on the exchange of greetings at a reception organized at Bangabhaban on the occasion of the festival of Durga Puja, a religious festival of the Hindu community.
Abdul Hamid said that religion urges people to come to the path of justice and good, to avoid wrong and untrue and to show the way to liberation of humanity.
The President said, we must come forward in the service of humanity as well as adhering to religious discipline. We have to stand beside the destitute and helpless.
He said, the communal harmony is the continuous tradition of Bengalis. This tradition should be brought together collectively, irrespective of religion and caste, harmony between all and harmony should be consolidated.
