India releases 53 tonnes relief material for Rohingya refugees who took refuge in Bangladesh from Myanmar After reaching the port city of Chittagong in Chittagong, Indian Relief C-17 aircraft, Road Transport and Entrepreneur and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, today received Indian aid from Harsh Vardhan, the Indian High Commissioner.
Among the relief materials are rice, lentil and tents. High Commissioner Sinala said that India will send 7,000 tons of relief material to the refugees gradually.
During this time, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina thanked the Indian government for Narendra Modi's government for sending relief material to Rohingya refugees who took shelter in Bangladesh.
Earlier, mentioning the need for India's cooperation in tackling the situation arising out of Bangladesh and sending refugees back, said the whole world is concerned about the Rohingya issue. At this moment, India's position on our side is very important.
At this time, the Indian High Commissioner referred to the Rohingya issue as a security problem and said that India is aware of Bangladesh's challenge to address the security and food problems of the Rohingyas.
Sringla said that India will send 7,000 tons of relief material. In the meantime, there are rice, pulses, sugar, biscuits, salt, noodles, soap, mosquito nets, oil and tentacles. Refugees will get 15kg of relief material each. These relief materials will be distributed in Rohingya camps in Ukhia, Teknaf and Naikhangchurch.
Chittagong Divisional Commissioner Abdul Mannan, Deputy Commissioner Zillur Rahman Chowdhury and senior officials were present. Earlier, an airconditioner arrived from Morocco with relief material for Rohingyas at 9.00am in the morning.
