Kubisar arrested in Kuthibari swords case
After a year and a half after the police arrested one of the accused in the mysterious case of robbery from Kuthibari of Shilaidah of Kushtia of Tagore Rabindranath Tagore.
On Friday, police arrested the accused Abdul Mannan (50) from Shilaidaha village of the police station. Police said Abdul Mannan was a NGO worker. Meanwhile, the police suspect that the arrest of the accused will expire in the long pending case and the opening of the two swords of theft.
Police said that on March 30, 2016, two stolen robbery of five swords from the room room of the second room of Kuthibari in Shilaidah on March 30, 2016. Custodian Makhlechur Rahman filed the case with Kumarkhali Police Station on the incident. The case was covered up for a long time. The police initially thought that the arrest of one of the accused in the case would be possible to identify the mystery behind the sword and other accused involved in the incident.
Abdul Mannan was a fugitive for a long time. He was the NGO director of Shapla Samaj Vikas Sanstha. His house is situated in Kasba village of Shilaidah union of Kumallakhari upazila. Police could not find the two stolen sword till the writing of the airport. In the meanwhile, the police had initially suspected the robbery of two swords between the five swords locked in almirah inside Kuthibari under strict security and full-time CC cameras are mysterious.
Officer-in-Charge of Kumarkhali Police Station Abdul Khalek said Abdul Maleen, the accused in the case filed for the robbery case, confessed to the arrest of Abdul Mannan. He is undergoing interrogation in police custody. The accused will be prosecuted for interrogation and investigation, said OC.
