A California woman convicted of driving drunk and killing her sister in a car crash she live-streamed on social media was sentenced to more than six years in prison.
Obdulia Sanchez, 19, was sentenced Thursday after being convicted of vehicular manslaughter and DUI for the crash that killed 14-year-old Jacqueline Sanchez last July.
Sanchez expressed remorse in court.
“I feel like such an idiot,” she said, according to the Merced Sun-Star. “Why did God choose me to be the older sister? I can’t even do my job right.”
Merced County Deputy District Attorney Thomas Min, who was seeking the maximum 12-year sentence, revealed Sanchez was trying to purchase alcohol, but a friend bought it for her after she was turned down, according to the newspaper.
Sanchez also had marijuana and cocaine in her system at the time of the crash, Min said.
In the Instagram video, Sanchez can be heard saying: “My sister is f--king dying. I f--king love my sister to death. I don’t give a f--k.”
